Q. I would like to retain your firm. What is the first step?
A. You can call us directly at the office and speak with Dr. Carroll or any of his associates to find out if there is any conflict of interest. Once it has been cleared that there is not a conflict of interest, we will draw up a consulting agreement for you. You can also contact us via e-mail at tcarrollassoc@aol.com.
Q. You require a retainer. Is the retainer refundable?
A. No, it is not. Dr. Carroll has been in business for several years and has based his required retainer amount on his past experience with cases. All cases, with the exception of construction defects, require a $3,000 retainer. Construction defect cases, which we have found to require less of our time, require a $1,000 retainer.
Q. Once I pay the retainer, does it cover everything?
A. This all depends on how much time your case requires. We bill at three different hourly rates; Dr. Carroll's time, statistician's time and staff time. All time is billed against the retainer, and any additional time that is not covered by the retainer will be billed later similarly. Our fee schedule can be found at the end of Dr. Carroll's CV and on our Fee Schedule link.
Q. I would like your firm to start working on my case as soon as possible. What do I need to do?
A. To begin our evaluation we need 3 things:
1) signed contract agreement
2) retainer
3) any information or documentation regarding the case*
*We have questionnaires for different types of cases on this site (under this Questionnaries link) that we ask be filled out by attorney and/or client, and returned to us. This is the easiest way for us to collect all necessary information. Additional helpful information would be any official earnings documentation (i.e. 1040, W2, paystubs).
Q. I need your report within two weeks. Is that possible?
A. Yes, it just depends on Dr. Carroll's schedule and the promptness in which we receive the necessary information from you. We require an additional $1,000 fee for expedited reports (needed within two weeks/10 business days of retention), regardless of the case type.
Q. I need to schedule a meeting/deposition/trial testimony for Dr. Carroll. How can I do that?
A. Please call or e-mail the office. Any of the associates can help you with this. Due to Dr. Carroll's teaching schedule at UNLV he is unavailable at certain times. Please do not schedule Dr. Carroll without speaking to a staff member first.
